Manual & Automatic Inflation of your Stormy PFD

Manual Inflation

Manual Inflation KitManual System Components

Grasp the top or side of the velcro attached inflation pocket and tear the pocket down and off. This action will trigger the CO2 gas cylinder inflating your PFD instantly giving you buoyancy to PFD Type 1 standard. Replace the used CO2 cylinder at your earliest opportunity. If you need advice as to how to do this or where to obtain a cylinder please contact Stormy Australia.

Oral Inflation

It is sufficient to use oral inflation should you find yourself in a hazardous (but not an emergency) situation. Pull down the inflation pocket about halfway and take out the red oral inflation tube located next to the gas cylinder. Inflate by mouth.

Important:  Do not trigger the CO2 Cylinder if you have inflated your Stormy orally. This may damage the inflation chamber.

To Deflate

Invert the black inflation cap and press the raised top of the cap into the oral inflation tube. This will open the one-way valve.

After Activation

When the trigger mechanism has been activated (ie. the jacket has been inflated) it is necessary to replace the CO2 cylinder and the green indicator tab. Remove the old cylinder by unscrewing anticlockwise and replace.

To Deflate

Invert the black inflation cap and press the raised top of the cap into the oral inflation tube. This will open the one-way valve.

After Activation

When the trigger mechanism has activated (Jacket inflated) it is necessary to replace the CO2 cylinder and the Bobbin. Remove the old cylinder by unscrewing anticlockwise. Unscrew the clear end cap and remove the old bobbin. Discard the old bobbin. To install a new bobbin - ensure fittings are dry before placing bobbin in trigger mechanism (fits only with white side down). Replace clear end cap by hand screwing firmly home in a clockwise direction.

Note: When an unused bobbin is in place a green indicator will show in bottom of clear end cap. A red indicator will show if a used bobbin is installed. Do not install end cap without bobbin in place because the CO2 cylinder will be punctured as the cap is screwed home.

Install CO2 cylinder in top of mechanism and firmly hand tighten in a clockwise direction. Fit green indicator tab through hole in trigger mechanism and manual activation lever.
